Is your business listed on TripAdvisor? If it is, there’s a new update to the travel reviews aggregator’s mobile app that we think you ought to know about: the ability for users to download and collect TripAdvisor reviews, photos, and city maps before they go on their trip.
Basically, this means that your potential and existing customers will be able to access data from TripAdvisor even while offline. According to the company, the new offline functionality includes more than 300 city maps worldwide, with more to follow in the coming weeks and months.
“The new offline feature for TripAdvisor’s smartphone app makes it an even more valuable must have tool during your trip,” said Adam Medros, Senior VP of Global Product for TripAdvisor. “More and more travelers are making spur-of-the-moment decisions about where to go and what to do and need a useful travel resource. Travelers can now access user reviews, photos and maps throughout their trip to help them pick last-minute hotels, restaurants and attractions to visit, all while avoiding costly roaming charges.”
For business owners listed on TripAdvisor, the most recent update to the TripAdvisor app means that users can read as much as ten reviews of your venue or establishment, complete with photos and ratings. (Once they connect to the Internet via cellular data or Wi-Fi connectivity, users will be able to see the rest of a given business’ reviews.) And in an age when 89 percent of travelers consider reviews as influential when choosing where to book, it’s now more critical than ever that you monitor and manage online reviews of your business on the popular travel site. Otherwise, you lose control over what guest and customers might say about you – and how their opinions affect your reputation and business performance.
Apart from adding the ability to access TripAdvisor data offline, the updated TripAdvisor mobile app also features photos and badges on member profiles, plus options to find and reserve tables at thousands of TripAdvisor-listed restaurants around the world. The TripAdvisor user experience certainly continues to evolve: just last month, the site introduced the Questions and Answers feature: yet another way for business owners to engage with travelers before they finalize their booking decisions.
According to TripAdvisor, the offline maps are powered by Scout Maps and Navigation SDK by Telenav, a mapping service that makes use of OpenStreetMap data.
