Review site Yelp just keeps growing bigger and bigger.

In a move that marked a tremendous new growth opportunity in Asia, leading ratings and reviews aggregator Yelp recently launched Yelp Singapore, giving consumers and businesses in the Southeast Asian city-state an online platform for searching local information, writing and sharing opinions about local businesses, reading user-generated content, accessing ratings, and monitoring online reviews.

“The people of Singapore are discerning tastemakers with a strong sense of pride in the diversity of their cuisine and culture,” wrote Miriam Warren, Yelp’s VP of New Markets. “We’re excited to see how their eclectic tastes will contribute to the growth of their very own Yelp community.”

Yelp users – or “Yelpers” – in Singapore can now rate and review businesses throughout the city-state otherwise known as the Lion City. The Yelp mobile app is also available for local users carrying Android and iOS devices, which means that these users now have the ability to find nearby businesses – hotels, restaurants, bars, cafes, nightlife, shows and events, services, destinations, shopping, etc. – based on where they are.

Founded in San Francisco in 2004, Yelp has since grown to host over 30 million reviews, record 78 million unique monthly visitors, and develop local guides for real word-of-mouth on everything from boutiques and mechanics to restaurants and dentists. (Check out more Yelp facts and figures.) It is also available in countries that include US, Canada, UK, France, Austria, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. In Singapore, there are already 3,569 Yelp reviews for restaurants and food.

So: if you own or manage a local business in Singapore, now is your chance to claim your Yelp page or listing. (Don’t forget to claim your business on HungryGoWhere, too!) This is great. Yelp is expanding more and more. It is just a matter of time when will my favorite vacation country get it. I am spending a lot of time in Turkey and it would be nice to know where to stay and dine. Hopefully, Yelp will include Turkey soon.
