The ability to generate online (positive) reviews is always a useful one, particularly for local business owners looking to build buzz online. It’s even better if that business is in a city or town that naturally attracts hundreds or thousands of visitors who are not shy about sharing their opinions online.
Ever wondered which city in the world generates the most online reviews?
The world’s biggest travel site, TripAdvisor, set out to answer this question. After collecting and studying its wealth of online reviews – of hotels, restaurants, landmarks, and attractions – the site announced that the most reviewed city in the world is none other than the capital city of England and the UK: London.
Home to the Shard, Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Westminster, Tate Modern, and the Piccadilly Circus (among many other attractions), London topped TripAdvisor’s list of most reviewed cities with 565,742 reviews in 2014. This was followed by Rome, Italy (438,118), Paris, France (414,700), and New York City, New York (375,905). Rounding out the top ten are: Barcelona in Spain; Las Vegas, Nevada; Orlando, Florida; Milan, Italy; Florence, Italy; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Following New York, Las Vegas, and Orlando in the list of most reviewed city in the US are: San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Miami Beach.

TripAdvisor has now collected over 200 million reviews and opinions, covering more than 4.4. million local businesses in 145,000 destinations.
“Our global travel community adds 115 contributions to the site every minute, helping to make TripAdvisor the world’s best place to plan a trip,” said Barbara Messing, TripAdvisor Chief Marketing Officer. “We thank our most active members, as well as each of our contributors. Their candid feedback is the lifeblood of TripAdvisor and helps others find the information and advice they need before they travel or visit a business.”
The most reviewed attraction in the US is Central Park in New York, which collected a staggering 10,492 reviews in 2014 from members of the TripAdvisor community. Meanwhile, the most reviewed US hotel can be found in Las Vegas: the Bellagio, which gathered 3,824 reviews.
According to TripAdvisor, the most prolific contributors to the site are US travelers – the most content submitted (6,138) was by scottca075 from San Diego – but people in Japan actually submit most photos per user on average. The honor of having the highest percentage of international reviews (reviews for travel outside of member’s home country) as well as the highest average numbers of words per review belongs to Singapore.
