You know how, on TripAdvisor, you can quickly book listed hotels or make reservations at select restaurants?

Well, online reviews aggregator Yelp is soon going to let its users do the same on its site. Two days ago, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman announced the new Yelp Platform – a feature that will soon enable Yelpers and business owners to make transactions like bookings, delivery, and pickup directly through Yelp (desktop and mobile).

“We’ll be rolling out Yelp Platform category by category, beginning today with food delivery and pickup,” wrote Stoppelman. “Starting now, people can order food directly from a select number of restaurants supported by delivery.com and Eat24, like NYC’s Republic and Layaly Mediterranean Grill in SF. Eventually, consumers will be able to order whatever meal they’re craving for delivery or pickup at thousands of local restaurants across the US, directly from those businesses’ Yelp listings.”

The announcement follows the recent launch of “Call to Action,” a feature that allows businesses on Yelp to promote desired transactions (printing out coupons, buying event tickets, etc.) directly on their listings. The “Call to Action” offer – which business owners can pay to advertise – then appears on the listing, helping attract Yelpers who are ready to make a spending decision.

Yelp Platform takes this to another level. To enable direct transactions, TripAdvisor has partnerships with sites like Expedia, Agoda, and Hotels.com (for hotels), GetYourGuide (for tourist attractions), and OpenTable (for restaurants). Yelp Platform means that Yelp is in the process of establishing similar partnerships – in this case, with sites like Booker, Intuit’s Demandforce, and MindBody.

It’s not going to be limited to restaurants, though. According to Stoppelman, we can expect local business in other categories – such as spas, yoga studios, hair and nail salons, and dentists, among others – to be integrated to Yelp Platform. It’s definitely going to make the Yelp experience a more streamlined one, for consumers and business owners alike.
