Sometime last year, popular online review site Yelp introduced a feature that enabled Yelpers and business owners alike to make transactions like bookings, delivery, and pickup directly through Yelp (desktop and mobile).
Called Yelp Platform, the feature is meant to connect local businesses connect and engage with Yelpers who are ready to make a spending decision. Initially, Yelp Platform supported restaurants that were listed on delivery.com and Eat24. (It also supported businesses – like spas and salons – that were featured on service management platform Booker.) Then soon it brought online ordering to more Yelp-listed restaurants and their customers.
This time, Yelp Platform has expanded to enable bookings at hotels and wineries.
This means that Yelp users can now book a room in your Yelp-listed hotel or make winery reservations at your Yelp-listed winery. We think it’s an awesome new way to drive customers to your business location, especially in today’s age when 88 percent of Internet users read online reviews before deciding whether a local business is good or not. Apart from being able to track Yelp reviews, you can now also increase consumer engagement levels in ways that impact your bottom line.
This is what your customers and guests will see when making a booking through Yelp:
“Consumers can now get food delivered from a ton of new locations thanks to the integration of EatStreet, ChowNow and Ordr.in, as well as hotel bookings through Hipmunk and winery reservations through CellarPass,” wrote Partha Sundaram, Product Manager at Yelp. “Approximately 28,000 businesses in all major US markets are available for booking on Yelp Platform today and we’ll continue to roll out more in the coming months. With approximately 250,000 transactions happening through Yelp Platform in Q3 2014 (and more than 50 percent of those on mobile), it’s clear Yelpers love the convenience of booking and purchase options within Yelp.”
